The Baltimore & Chesapeake Steamboat Company (B&CSC), Project Liberty Ship, and the N/S Savannah Association (NSSA) invite you to a family day exploring maritime history with exhibitors, activities, and a special tour of the Liberty Ship S.S. JOHN W. BROWN [masks and close-toe shoes, not handicap accessible, last tour boards at 3pm]. Food trucks Crossroads Bistro and Kona Ice will be available.

The event committee is comprised of the Baltimore & Chesapeake Steamboat Company (B&CSC), the NS Savannah Association (NSSA), and Project Liberty Ship (JOHN W. BROWN).

Speakers include Vice Admiral Mark H. Buzby, USN (Ret.); Joseph Wyatt, Association of Maryland Pilots; Kipp Snow, Director, Transportation, Distribution, and Maritime Logistics, CCBC; and Susan Langley, Ph.D., Maryland State Underwater Archaeologist.

Our Port’s tugboat companies will salute our maritime workers past and present with horns, whistles and water canons.

The B&CSC is participating in the Wreath Laying ceremony. This year’s wreath is made by its vice president, Maizie Rocke.

The B&CSC in cooperation with the Baltimore Port Alliance and others look forward to a heart-felt commemoration of our Port and all of the other facilities around the world that are part of our collective maritime community.

Board member Walt Mathers represents B&SC at the monthly Baltimore Port Alliance Meeting. B&CSC’s vice president Maizie Cummings-Rocke, board member Bob Adams and members Anthony Miller and Cornelia Mueller will represent the N.S. Savannah Docent team for an update of Port happenings in preparation for the upcoming annual Port Expo at National Maritime Day aboard the N.S. Savannah. USCG Captain Lake and others will lead a tour of the shipyards facilities.

B&CSC will exhibit and participate in the special educational training session for educators, demonstrating 18th century hands-on industrial maritime heritage and its advances into the 21st century.

Escape Velocity is a program of the Museum of Science Fiction. This is the second year for this three-day futuristic conference exploring speculative fiction, its role in society, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). The event features UAV FPV Indoor Drone Racing; Discussion Panels; Workshops and presentations; High Resolution 3D Scanning and Printing; NASA VR Demonstrations; Museum gallery, displays, and new technology; Exhibit Floor Area; Educational Competition Awards; Hands-on and Project-based Activities, workshops and Educators’ STEaM Session; Film Festival with Boston Science Fiction Film Festival; Author Book Signings and more.
